10 Beauty Uses of Coconut Oil

Everyone's been talking about the magical coconut oil and its many benefits in the cooking department, but did you know that it can also be used as a beauty product? Oh yes, it has many benefits that have soothing effect for your body.

So, what's so special about it? First of all - it's all natural, which means it doesn't contain any perservatives. It consists of saturated fats, fatty acids, vitamin-E and proteins, which are all very benefitial for your skin (you can read more about the composition here). Another good thing about it is that it doesn't become rancid, which means it can work for a longer time, unlike many other oils. It's also naturally antibacterial & antifungal and excellent moisturizer.

When you see in how many ways it can be used, you'll realize that you can throw away half of your beauty products and use only coconut oil instead. This way you'll have more space on your vanity and also save money. Here are 10 ways to use raw coconut oil as a beauty product. Try them and you'll see that it really does magic!

Cuticle and Nail Oil
Coconut oil can make wonders to dry skin. If you have very dry hands and cuticles, apply a generous amount of coconut oil on them and let it do its magic for about 15 minutes so that skin absorbs it and clean the rest with a towel. For the best results repeat every day.

Lip Balm
Coconut oil is the best remedy for chapped lips, especially because it's semisolid at room temperature. To use it as a lip balm, put a little amount of coconut oil into a small jar and apply it on your lips throughout the day.

Skin Lotion
Did you know that raw coconut oil can speed up wound healing, increase hydration and reduce water loss in dry skin? If you want nourished and hydrated skin, apply modest amount of oil on your hands and rub it gently into your skin.

Body Scrub
Why would you spend huge sums of money for body scrub, when you can easily make one at home?! Simply mix half a cup of coconut oil with a handful of coarse salt or sugar to create an exfoliator and then gently massage it on the body. Rinse it of with warm water.

Deep-conditioner
According to researches coconut oil it's better able to penetrate hair and prevent protein loss than any other oils. For the best results, apply coconut oil on your hair before you go to sleep and leave it overnight. Don't forget to place a towel over your pillow or sleep in a shower cap. In the morning shampoo as usual. I can tell you from my experience that your hair will be stronger and healthier already after one treatment.

Shaving Cream
When you don't have shaving cream at hand, use coconut oil instead! It's naturally antimicrobial and it has skin-soothing properties that will leave your legs soft and hydrated.

Makeup Remover
Coconut oil is THE best makeup remover among all cosmetic ones! It removes all of the makeup perfectly and leaves your skin hydrated (I'm telling you from my own experience). Put a little amount of coconut oil on a coton wool and gently sweep it over your eyes, until all the makeup is removed. Afterwards wash your face as usual.

Highlighter
Nothing creates more healthy skin than a touch of highlighter. Did you know that you can achieve the same glowing result with coconut oil? Easily swap a small amount at the apples of your cheeks and leave it alone. Your skin will still look natural but glowier.

Massage Oil
Coconut oil can also be used as a massage oil. It's skin-friendly and moisturizing and its slippery texture feels so good on the skin.

Teeth Whitener
Coconut oil is claimed to whiten your teeth, make your breath fresher, reduce the amount of bacteria and lead to massive improvements in oral health. Put a little amount of oil in your mouth and swish it around your teeth for 15-20 minutes. After that spit out the oil and brush your teeth as usual. At first you might find it a little disgusting, but after a few days I'm sure you'll get used to it. I suggest you do it while taking a shower, so those 10-15 minutes pass by faster.

Kate Spade Beach Bags

Even though it's not summer yet, my thoughts are already drifting away to the seaside, where I see myself lying on the beach, sipping cocktails and soaking up the sun. Ah, sounds like heaven! But wait, which swimsuit am I going to wear? And how about the sunnglasses? And the beach bag? Oh, the usual women issues. Well, I've already bought new swimswear and sunnies last year, so this season I think I need a new beach bag.

Can you imagine I've had the current one for five years?! That's because I like to invest in good quality bags that last very long and have a clasic shape that's easy to combine. Well, now the present one has lost its charm and it's definitely time to replace it with more trendy piece. In the search for a beach bag, I looked online and found these pretty totes from Kate Spade, that perfectly represent my style - girly, chic and playful. What I also love about them is the combination of bright colors and stripes that are just perfect for summer and simple model that goes with basically anything. They're also very practical to wear and have enough space for all the beach essentials.

I've chosen four of my favourites, but now I need your help. Can you help me choose THE ONE I should get? Leave your vote in the comments ;)

Instaparty: Life Updates

Hey hey! As you may know in Instaparty posts I like to talk about a little more personal topics that arise in my mind. But since my mind is off at the moment, I just wanted to update you guys on what's been going on with my life. May has passed by so fast, I don't even remember what happened during the month.. thank god for Instagram to remember me what I've been doing.. and eating! ;)

NEW MORNING ROUTINE
Lately I fell out of my morning routine and it was about time to get back on track. So I started waking up eary (6.20 to be exact) and start the day with my workout routine (I love exercises by Blogilates) by doing 45 minutes of arms, abs, butt and leg excercises. Then I jump in the shower and after that make myself a smoothie (if you follow me on Snapchat, you know I'm a huge smoothie addict). By the time I finish drinking it, it's 8 o'clock and I still have the whole day ahead of me!

ROOM MAKEOVER
Ever since I moved into my new appartment in Ljubljana, I wanted to redecorate my room and add a litte more personal touch to it, but never found the time to do it. Now I've finally managed to do a few DIYs, like this nailpolish stand and DIY pictures, made of old fashion magazines. I also added some pretty photos on the walls and put a whiteboard over my desk. It's amazing how little things can change the whole room and give it such a good vibes. It's also so much easier to work in a pretty environment than in a dull room.

TRIP TO THE SEASIDE
A few wekeends ago I went to Internautica (which is an International Boat Show) with my friend Lina. We had such a great time driving in cabrio with hands in the air and hair everywhere! It was so much fun admiring all the amazing yachts and picking our favourites. We also managed to got to a 30m yacht, worth 8 million € and take selfies at every corner of it ;) We ended the day with delicious lunch by the beach and ice cream for a desert.

EXPLORING LJUBLJANA
The next weekend my special friend came for a visit. We partied at Škisova on Thursday and on Friday I took him on Ljubljana Castle, which was a perfect destination to relax, breathe fresh air and get rid of the hangover ;) After that we had lunch at Odprta kuhna and a scoop of ice-cream at Vigo. Saturday and Sunday were reserved for friends too. During the day we were chilling in the city and at evenings we enjoyed our cocktails by the Ljubljanica river. This is what I call the perfect weekend!

WORK HARD, PLAY HARD
Another weekend, another trip to the seaside. But this time it was work. Me and my two friends were hostesses at the Microsoft NT Conference, which took place at the Bernardin hotel. We were working more than 10 hours a day but nontheless managed to have fun. I guess the beautiful surroundings and good food really helped us to keep the power during the day and still have the energy to dance at the beach parties. Work hard, play hard, right? ;)

So yes, this is how my May looked like. How did you spend yours? I wanna know if any fun things happened to you! Let me know in the comments! :)
