Yesterday I was at the opening of the Fashion Month in the Museum which takes place at Regional Museum Maribor. There isn't really much happening in my city, so this event was a pleasant surprise, esecially because is about fashion. Erik Maj Potočnik and Matjaž Plošinjak, two of the great Slovenian designers, presented three gorgeous gowns at the opening. They are baroque inspired, very exquisite and perfectly done.
There are going to be three temporary exhibitions. First one is called Flirting with history and is integrating present with past. You can see modern trends from this years' fashion weeks and their similar old versions from the past. Here are two of them:
Collar - decoration or function? is the second exhibition, where you can see some very interesting collars, made by students. In the Great Hall you can find the third exhibiton, which tries to show the baroque era. You can find drawings, dresses and hats, inspired by that time. It's all about the connection between old and modern fashion.
I think this is a great project and I hope it will bring some fashion spirit in town! There's also going to be a fashion show with some of Slovenian greatest designers- definitely worth a visit! So if you want to know more about this, visit their site. I hope to see you there!
