Omelettes and Star Wars at the MET Gala 2015

THE most extravagant fashion event of the year has happened again and I cannot stop admiring all the incredible dresses from the gala. Met Ball makes me sooo excited every year, since celebrities wear the most exquisite haute-couture gowns. This year creme de la creme of fashion, music and film industry gathered at the Metropolitan Museum of Art to toast the Costume Institute's latest ehibit, China: Through The Looking Glass. The evening was in the name of chinoserie and celebrities had to implement chinese artistic influences in their outfits. Some of them did a pretty good job and some of them totally failed..

PRINCESS OF CHINA
There's always that one dress at the gala that attracts the most attention and is talked about years after the event. This time the honor definitely goes to Rihanna and her massive haute-couture dress (can we even call it a dress?), that took the designer Guo Pei two years to handmade it! Even though she couldn't walk in it without any help and despite many memes that highlighted its comparison to an omelette or pizza, the gown definitely shot the internet down and will for sure be remembered years ahead.

THE NAKED TEAM
Forget about the orange being the new black. According to these three divas, naked is the new black! Beyonce, Kim Kardashian and J.LO. all rocked very revealing dresses with carefully placed beads and feathers that demand wearing no panties.. doesn't get sexier than this!

Queen B made us lose our breaths in custom Givenchy beaded gown, that was THE hottest for sure, but failed to express any of the chinese art. Kim's dress was a white version of Beyonce's purple gown that she wore to the gala two years ago, so nothing new here. Jenny from the block was the only one of the naked team that took the dresscode seriously and wrapped a red chinese dragon around her body, which, unfortunatelly, didn't got the attention she wanted.

DESIGNERS AND THEIR MUSES
Are you a celebrity? Perhaps single with no friends and are afraid to attend the gala alone? No worries, here's when designers come in handy! They will create a custom dress only for you (their muse), pose with you on the red carpet and brag with your flawless appearance. And if you two really bond, they could even kneel down and kiss your palms in front of everyone. Oh yes, seems like designers and their muses is the new big trend. It's interesting how they all kinda cordinated their outfits but unfortunatelly none of them left any big remarks (at least not good ones). Maybe this partnership isn't such a good idea after all..

Alicia Keys & Jean Paul Gaultier

Allison Williams & Giambattista Valli

Cher & Marc Jacobs

Joan Smalls & Peter Dundas

Kate Hudson & Michael Kors

Kate Mara & Diane Von Furstenberg

Lady Gaga & Alexander Wang

Rita Ora & Tom Ford

Selena Gomez & Vera Wang

Katie Holmes & Zac Posen

COUPLES
Oh, this pretty little thing called love.. even though it's nice to see celebrities with their better halves on the red carpet all sweet and sugary staring at each other, I think they should spend more time thinking about the outfits than about each other. Some really didn't understand the dresscode.. I mean what was Olivia thinking accessorizing her dress with slate gloves and a turban-style headband? And Amal.. if the dress was made specifically for her, they could do a better job. It's just too much going on - the embelished bodice and tires of red fabric look kind of cheap on her, even though it's Maison Margiela.

And the best dressed copule of the night? Definitely Poppy + James, who looked like a celebrity royalty. Poppy matched the red carpet in her plunging red Marchesa dress with poppies over the torso and beautifully flowing skirt and James went for a classical black suit with an elegant bow tie. Now this is what I call THE perfect-looking-couple.

Robert Pattison + FKA Twigs

P. Diddy + Cassie

Chrissy Teigen + John Legend

George + Amal Clooney

Joshua Jackson + Diane Kruger

Poppy Delevingne + James Cook

Rose Byrne + Bobby Cannavale

Olivia Wilde + Jason Sudeikis

BESTIES
Friends who attend the red carpet together, stay together, right? Now we're used to see models like Karlie Kloss & Gigi and Bella & Hailey together, but what about Miley & Zoe Kravitz? I surely did not see that friendship coming. But it you think about it, it makes sense, since they're both rebels and have similar taste in fashion. While they opted for a very edgy look (and totally missed the point of a theme), models flaunt their looong legs in short bodycon dresses. And let's stop for a moment to admire Reese's ah-mazing outfit. Simple yet very elegant red Jason Wu dress perfecly hugged her curves and let the precious diamonds around her neck really stand out.

WTFs
You know I love a good fashion fail, so let's take a moment to cherish these boring, unflattering and ridiculous outfits. From Anne Heathaway aka the human-size Oscar throphy to Chloe Sevigny, who took the idea of chinoserie too seriously and Solange Knowles, whose dress looked like an inside of a shell. There's no doubt that some stars really have rich imagination.. or just a very bad taste.

Now tell me which celebrity impressed you with her/his look the most? And who do you think deserves an award for the worst dressed? Let's exchange our thoughts in the comments! :)
